All week long I have been worrying and fretting about the 80% forecast for rain for. What I wake up to is a hot and sunny day. HOT!
Zung (or I, who can remember now?) get some great sunrise pictures.
Zung goes and gets us chairs at the beach. I think this might be the worst I have ever seen the towel game played. As I’ve said before, I hate it, but you either play or go without. And since my butt is on Lounge Chair by 9 or 9:30 every morning, I don’t feel too bad about it.
We go to Bella Vista for breakfast. I usually like to order room service for breakfast one morning and eat out on the balcony. Didn’t do that this time. Zung prefers Bella Vista so his omelet is fresh. I order a Mimosa and get a crepe but forget to take a picture.
I thought I would include this picture, because I’m not sure you’ve seen enough of them.
Olivia had mentioned that baby Benjamin had gotten his immunizations and had been fussy afterwards. I asked her how he was today and she said better. I noticed that I didn’t see her at dinner in the evenings anymore, so maybe she has better hours with the baby. She used to work a split shift, coming in early for breakfast and lunch, having a couple of hours off and then coming back in the evening for dinner.
We walk back to our room. The Iberostar logo is everywhere, even here.
I go out to the beach while Zung stays in the room to work. I am downwind of a smoker – ugh! And there is a chatty lady right behind me saying the most inane things. A little after 11 am one of the beach butlers comes by and stops at the chairs right in front of me. They have a book and towels on them and have ever since I got here a couple of hours ago. She talks into her walkie-talkie and then takes everything away. They need to do more of that.
It must be Marcelino’s day off because he is not here. Eli is our beach waiter. I have to wave him down to get his attention. I do, several times. I have a couple Mimosas and then order a Mudslide for me and a Margarita for Zung. I text him and tell him he needs to come down. He doesn’t get the text but comes down anyway. He must have received my mental message. We drink our drinks and then go for our comped 30 minute massages. My therapist doesn’t use enough pressure. Kind of frustrating.
We go to lunch. We see Victor as we walk to Las Brisa. We talk about the weather. He says he has had to buy a coat for the first time ever.
We have our usual drinks, a Victoria beer for him and Sauvignon Blanc for me.
I make myself a nice salad from the buffet while I wait for my lobster and french fries. The lobster was mushy (boo!) and the fries were really good. A bug flew into my wine and I needed a new glass.
Zung had shrimp fajitas. He’s nothing if not consistent.
The Wednesday wine tasting is still going on outside with Luis, so we taste several wines. We end up ordering a $100 bottle of wine for our beach dinner tonight. Luis sells wine so much better than Eli did. Charm works so much better than condescension. Go figure.
We look for Humberto at the pool bar, but don’t see him. I am sad that I have not gotten to see him much at all this trip.
We return to the beach and nap. I go up to the room at one point and check my phone and Facebook while I am up there. Daniel has tagged me in a picture.
I usually like it neat, but I’ll take some Havana on the rocks.
