We headed off to Venecia for dinner. Zung took a couple of artsy pictures of our building.
The Grand is beautiful, everywhere. Even their bathrooms are beautiful. Seriously, if you go to the Grand, check out every bathroom. They are all different. People take pictures of them.
The Grand had put a bottle of wine in our room when we arrived. We had not had the opportunity to open it. I realized it was a wine that you normally have to pay extra for, so we decided to take it to dinner tonight and have them open it and enjoy it with our dinner. Karen and I could kill a bottle of wine in the room, but Zung just doesn’t hold up his end of the drinking.
Tonight’s dinner was the best of the whole trip. They brought the starter they bring to everyone, parmesan cheese focaccia and something else I can’t seem to remember. Oh yea, pickled eggplant. no wonder I can’t remember it. Gak!
I had the Steamed Mussels in Spicy Tomato Broth. I’m pretty picky about my mussels, and these were good.
Zung had the Minestrone.
I had the lamb chops and they were seriously yummy.
And cooked perfectly to order, medium rare.
Zung had the portobello stuffed cannelloni.
We shared the Panna Cotta for dessert.
Olivia came by to see how our dinner was. We told her it was amazing. She should have had her baby by now. I hope everything went, and is going, okay for them both.
After dinner we made our way to the Stars Under the Stars party, in search of Humberto. We saw some of our new friends along the way.
I had been struggling with my hair the entire trip. I finally decided to give in to my inner curly girl. That didn’t work out so well either.
The party was in full swing when we went outside.
We went to the bar and asked where Humberto was. He was back at the Lobby Bar. Really? Back where we had just been? Venecia is just a few steps from the Lobby Bar. The party looked fun, but it was more important to get to see Humberto before we left tomorrow, so back we went.
And there he was.
Humberto is awesome! He made Zung a Margarita and me a chocolate martini.
One last picture with Ahleli.
It is quiet in the Lobby Bar. Everyone must be at the Stars Under the Stars party.
There are hugs good-bye. Another picture of the beautiful Grand.
We went back to the room. We saw Jesus and gave him a tip for helping us with the car for Tulum. That was one freaking expensive trip. I know I could take a collectivo for really cheap, but I just don’t think I’m that adventurous. I guess I’m just more of a hired, late model, SUV kind of girl than a collectivo kind of girl.
It had been a lovely last evening. Great dinner, and we got to say goodbye to many of our good Grand friends.
All that was left was our travel day. And finding out what the hell happened to Daniel.
