Final Vacation Dinner

Sorry that I’m so late on this post. Life has been busy lately. I had a garage sale. It was our 34th anniversary on Sunday. A cousin was in town, so we all had brunch. Zung’s former graduate assistant was in town, so we had dinner last night. Busy, busy!

Now I am back to blogging. We are looking forward to our next trip to the Grand next week. I am looking forward to having some fresh material. I need to start packing!

In the meantime, I will finish up this trip report so you all know how it ended. I know you are waiting with bated breath.

We ate at Toni’s Surf and Turf for our last night. They were photographing some people out on the deck for some ad or article. It must have been maddening to have that food and those drinks right in front of them and not be able to eat them. When they were done, the male model came over and started eating some of the food. I wonder if I’ll see the pictures anywhere. (Never did).

We had a nice dinner. They did overcook the lamb again. But we had Domingo as our waiter again and we liked him. We had asked for Karim because we knew he’d been at Toni’s the nights  we ate at Venecia, but tonight he was at the Gourmet.

Look! I took pictures of dessert again.

We had a nice bottle of  Merlot. To be honest, I’m not sure this picture is from that night, it looks kind of dark to be Toni’s. And it’s been way to many years for me to remember. I can be sure we did have a bottle of wine that night. That much is true.

One might think all we did was eat dessert and drink alcohol. That is so not what happened. And there’s no one around that can dispute that.

After dinner we stopped in the lobby bar before going to the theatre. Uriel, one of the Starfriends came over to talk with us. We had chatted with him earlier in the week. He said he wants to be a lawyer and is from Guadalajara. He thinks he will work there for about 6 months before going home to go to law school. We exchanged email addresses. A woman came up to me to ask if my name was Andrea. It was Stephanie, who is on a couple of the same boards as me. She was in the first half of her vacation. Lucky thing. She said that she had seen me before, but I was “really relaxing” so she didn’t want to bother me. I wonder what I look like when I’m really relaxing.

The show in the theatre was “Boogie Nights” with music from the 70’s and 80’s. It was actually a lot more fun than I thought it would be. We saw Amy and Kevin on or way out and talked a bit to them. Then we went back to our room. Last night. It has been so wonderful.
