Zung and I finished our drinks. We decided to go for a walk down to the beautiful Maroma beach. We took one bottle of water, but I would advise taking two. It’s a long, hot walk. Totally worth it though.
First we passed the rocky area that is just to the south of the Grand.
We saw an iguana, trying to blend in with the rocks.
It’s so gorgeous here. Unfortunately, there were lots of tiny jellyfish, so we didn’t risk going in the water.
We passed some construction, which we later learned is called Capella, and is going to be a high-end residence and hotel with a gold course. Or, it WAS going to be. If you’ve read my blog for my last couple of Grand trips, you know that this project has been abandoned.
We had looked it up online, back when they were working on it. It was impressive, but breathtakingly high-end.
We headed back and were ready for lunch by the time we got back. Carlos has brought us replacement drinks while we were gone, which were now, sadly, warm. We appreciated the gesture though.
At lunch we had the grilled lobster. It was not very good. It was salty and tough. I was so disappointed because last year I had been disappointed it was not available, now I realize I wasn’t missing much. I got over my disappointment with a Havana and coke.
The amazing view didn’t hurt either.
There was more laying on the beach, reading, relaxing and regular visits from Carlos.
We went to the spa pool. Zung got some healthy drink at the bar there. I hated to break it to him, but one healthy drink wasn’t going to flush out all of the alcohol out of our system.
We bubbled, floated and stood under those wonderful jets and flows of water until we were jello.
We went back to our room We drank the champagne that they had left in our room the previous night. We got ready for dinner.
We took in the spectacular view. It’s not as awesome as ocean front, but it’s pretty damn amazing.
Dinner was at Venecia, the Italian. Sadly, Karim was at the Surf and Turf again. Jorge did an excellent job though, but he’s so serious!
For a starter I had the Truffled Fettuccini with maascarpone cheese with caramel. I’m not quite sure what else we had, other than the shrimp and lobster risotto again. It is just so good. Yummy. I did have the Zabione for dessert.
I wore my LBD tonight (little black dress).
We returned to our room and made French 75’s with the rest of the champagne. “Sort of” French 75’s – we just mixed champagne with gin, whereas a French 75 has some lemon juice and sugar in it. We didn’t mind though.
Tomorrow we would meet up with some Trip Advisor friends.
