After lunch, Karen and I return to the beach for a while. The weather is definitely not sunbathing weather.
I say I think we should go in because it is probably going to start to rain. Sure enough, just as we are heading in, it starts to rain. Quickly, it is a “heaven’s opened up” type of rain. It rained harder than I have ever seen it rain.
We got inside just in time!
I wondered if Charly had put the champagne in our room.
Not only had he put the champagne in our room, he had also put this in our room.
AND, he had prepared this.
Notice the faucet turned on? That was cold water, because the water in the bath was really, really HOT!
How awesome is this?
Drinking champagne and eating chocolate covered strawberries in a hot bath made it a little easy to have had to come in early from the beach because of rain. Way cool!
Karen enjoyed some champagne on the balcony swing. Showing some leg there, Karen. If you got it, and it looks good, then flaunt it – is my motto.
Va va va voom!
We drank champagne until it was time to go to Toni’s for dinner. I poured my last glass down the drain, because I knew there was plenty more drinking to be had that night.
Karen glammed it up good.
I did ok too. This was one of those skirts where I couldn’t eat too much. Or breathe too deeply. But it was on a really good sale. So it was worth the accomodations I had to make.
It was still raining really hard, so we took a golf cart to dinner. Karen doesn’t like how fast the guys drive them, so I would harass her by telling them to go faster.
Our reservation at Toni’s is at 7. We are seated by the window again. Whereas last night’s dinner here was not as good as usual, tonight it was stellar.
I had wine and Karen had a martini again.
I had the Caesar salad as an app. See how it is bigger and more artfully prepared than last night?
Karen had the scallops for her app and said they were very good. Don’t you just love the “Iberostar” on the plate?
I had the double cut filet with Lyonnaise potatoes.
Karen had the double cut with pureed potatoes. Both were superb.
I was really glad that tonight’s dinner was so good. I think last night was an off night. I was a little worried that Toni’s might be declining, but every restaurant will have an off night or an off meal, occasionally.
Olivia came by and we chatted. I asked her about René, a popular waiter who used to work here. It had been reported on Trip Advisor that he had been promoted to Captain of the Italian restaurant and then demoted to the Maya because he didn’t do a good job. I asked if he would be coming back to the Grand and she looked at me like I was crazy. She said he had gotten a job at the Mayan Palace, and he had not been demoted. I was glad to hear that because he was an awesome waiter. One of the best ever.
It had been a nice afternoon, the rain notwithstanding. Dinner had been delicious.
