The wedding was held at Benachi House and Gardens. The couple is Zung’s cousin, Imbrie (his mom, Tu, and Zung were like siblings growing up) and Desiree.
We got there in a taxi. It was great to see that part of Zung’s family! The wedding was lovely. The ceremony was held in the front.
This is the groom’s father (William) and grandmother (Aunt Mary). That’s Susie in the background. I don’t know why we don’t have a picture of the groom’s mother, Tu. I’ll have to dock the photographer’s pay.
The groom and his two brothers. Daniel is the best man and Mike is one of the groomsmen. The Maid of Honor is the bride’s sister, Erica.
The bride making her entrance from the street.
Desiree was the epitome of glowing.
After the ceremony they did a Second Line out to the street and around to the backyard, where the reception was.
There was a champagne toast.
Don’t my boys look handsome? Susie wore a dress of mine and it looked so much better on her that I had to give it to her. Note to self – don’t let your thinner, beautiful daughter wear your clothes.
There was dancing, a DJ, a band, an open bar and passed hors d’oeuvres. Dinner was BBQ sandwiches and shrimp and grits (I passed on the grits – I still haven’t figured out what a grit is – and I can tell just by looking at them that I wouldn’t like the texture). There was of course wedding cake.
Zung, Susie and I left after the cake. The boys stayed until the end and then went to the after party.
It was a really lovely wedding and so great to see family and meet Desiree. It also had the added benefit of bringing us to NOLA, at long last, and discovering was an awesome food town it is.
And there were still four more meals to be experienced.
