I just read my last post and I missed a pair. I know that I got them before the Fendi’s because the night before I went to New York, Zung and I went to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Gala and I wore them to that. I don’t have a good picture of those either. They are black patent leather peep toes by Manolo Blahnik. They were bought because they were on a really good sale. And, really, they are classics. An investment really. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
In October of 2009 I went to Vegas on my first official girl’s trip with my friend, Erika.
Something about Vegas screams “buy new shoes!” There is a pretty good selection. I tried quite a few. Then I found myself in the Manolo Blahnik store. I had to stop in, it would have been rude not to.
I tried on many beautiful pairs of shoes that day. When I tried on these, I knew they were “the ones!”
Our Vegas trip involved going to the top of the Eiffel Tower at night, going to a Chippendale’s show (and perhaps drinking a tad too much), and discovering that finding a restaurant that has some vegan options is quite an accomplishment. (Erika is a vegan, I am definitely not). We sat at a couple of bars and ordered room service. It was great fun until the hangover day.
The next pair of shoes I bought were Coach. I actually bought them on Zung’s birthday this last year. We were at a Nordstrom Rack store and they were an unbelievably good price. These are another pair that I can wear all day and into the night.
Last, but certainly not least, are the shoes I got for my 50th birthday. In the year leading up to it I had told Zung it was making me feel traumatized and I was pretty sure the only thing that would get me through it was a week in Mexico. Oh, and a pair of shoes. Nice shoes.
I found these at Norstrom. I was there trying on many different shoes. I had tried on some red patent leather Christian Louboutin’s s at Neiman Marcus that were in the running. There had been an awesome pair of black patent leather Jimmy Choo’s at Saks as well. There were several from Norstrom’s that would have made me happy. The saleswoman and I were chatting about heels and how some really are all-day wearable. She said she had a pair of Christian Dior with 4 inch heels that were like that. Then she told me there was a pair of those same shoes in the back in my size. They had been a return from an online order. Of course I wanted to try them on. Again, they were an awesome deal. Over 50% off. I can wear them all day and my feet are fine. Don’t tell my other shoes, but these are my favorites.
I do have to say, this is my favorite place for my feet to be.
That is the end of my shoe stories. Next time I will blog about another one of our Iberostar Paraiso trips. I hope you will check back!
